Research and evidence
Built with people.
Tested in practice.
Osteoporosis Options grew from the iFraP research programme: a rigorous, collaborative effort to make treatment conversations more person-centred and easier to understand.
From co-design to a four-site randomised controlled trial.
How we got here
Three phases of careful development
The Fracture Liaison Service consultation tool and consultation-skills training were developed and tested through the iFraP study.
Co-designing the resources with patients, carers and clinicians.
Initial testing and refinement of the resources at one site.
Testing the complete intervention across four services in England.
patients took part in a randomised controlled trial across four Fracture Liaison Services.

More accurate perceptions of fracture risk
A clearer understanding of the need for treatment
Continuing the work
Widening access and impact
Linked studies are helping adapt the resources for primary care and improve how bone-health information is communicated.
Pharmacist-led osteoporosis review
Exploring the role, consultation model and training needs of practice-based pharmacists.
